Moving House in Iran (Tehran city) – personal experience
Moving house is one of the disgusting events for much family in all around the world, of course this event will happen regularly for some family and they have to move for different reasons such as:
1- Renewing the house
2- Buying big or small house
3- Finding new job in other cities or other area specially in big cities
4- Having problem with old houses
So with this short story I am going to write my personal experience regarding to moving house which has done 45 days ago in Tehran city capital of IRAN.
According to my experience moving house will be very difficult and complicated if u did not make any detailed plan, the following rule should be followed if you want to move house without any more expenses and losing the valuable stuffs .
- If it’s possible make any arrangement to receive the new house 2 or 3 days before you moving.
- If it’s possible make any arrangement to deliver the current house 2 or 3 days after moving.
- Prepare special packing package (The bananas package ) , you can ask all vegetable shop , the price which I got it was 25 cents or 10000 IRR(Iranian Rial)
- Start packing stuff up 20 days or even more (pack unnecessary stuff first)
- Try to make notes on package for example (N:necessary , LN: Long Term necessary , NN:not necessary)
- Try to classified the most required stuff like Laptop, TV, coffee maker, and so on , These items should moved by yourself with personnel car if possible and should be placed the same area in the new house (Do not change any objects place in the new house if the two houses are apartments or even big house , so it will be very easy every person to find anything in the shortest time specially before settled in )
- Arrange the transportation agency minimum one days before loading days, try to make list before going to transportation agency, do not arrange by telephoning, try to make arrangement face to face, The truck size, the number of workers, type of transportation (using lift or not ) are the critical point which should be ask from transportation agency and these items directly change the costs.
- Try to provide long with tape , its required to fixed all the wooden stuff which included glasses
- Install the face windows for the new house
- Try to install any windows blinds bases.
- Try to installs mirrors
- Try to install air conditioning system if required
- Check Electrical , heating system , water , air conditioning system and be sure they are working correctly
- Try to arrange with neighborhood to evacuate any stuff which are placed in the staircase
- · do not set the moving day for holidays (Thursday and Friday)
- · check the Staircase and be sure they are clear
- · If it’s possible visit the new house before loading and be sure everything is ok
- · Coordinate with Transportation agency one hour before arrangement time / Check the truck before starting loading and be sure the truck is clear
- · Supervise the loading process by yourself and don’t go anywhere during loading if it’s possible
- · Do not take care about small stuff , try to care about big and heavy stuff first (you can carry small stuff by yourself if any but be careful if you leave big stuff or heavy stuff you can’t do it by yourself after moving )
- · Make sure all the working following the safety rules and take care about the staircase wall and if they are using elevator take care about loading the stuff on the lift based on its capacity
*Note: most of the time the workers like to loads the lift more than its capacity because they want to finish soon, so take care, this should make problem for moving if lift have got any problem during the moving day
· If the alley u are going is small and there is no parking area for truck, arrange with neighbors.
· Try don’t make any dispute with neighbors
· Supervise all the unloading process by yourself and don’t go anywhere during the unloading
· Take care using lift and staircase
· Be sure the working following safety rules
· Check the truck after unloading and be sure it’s clear and everything unloaded , be careful sometimes the working doing stupid working and hiding some stuff in the truck (take care about valuable stuff such as tools , camp instrument , boots , ….- of course this also related to the packing process and if u done it well nothing will happen)
If you did the last two stages well so u don’t have more activities in this stage.
1- Try to locate the big stuff such as side by side refrigerator , furniture , Flat, closet , washing machine ,TV … first
2- Be careful the stuff location be the same as the old house if necessary , this is very important because every family members should find everything required in the shortest time
3- Try to unpack the pack according to notes (N, LN, NN)
4- Do not unpack any package which noted NN
Loading / Unloading / transportation cost:
The main cost of the moving house is the cost you should pay to transportation agency of course you have kind of other expenses which should be paid.
As I mentioned before the transportation cost related to factors such as the floor as is and the floor you should move, the two house distance, truck size, number of working, using lift or not,
I move from the fifth floor (old apartment ) to fifth floor(new apartment ) , I rent the medium truck(4.5 meter long ) , 4 workers and approximate distance between two house is around 700 meter ,using lift , make telephone arrangement
The first agreement related to cost was: 3500000 IRR equivalents 92 US Dollar
The final price which I paid was: 6500000 IRR equivalents 171 US Dollar
Why the cost increases:
- They claims that your stuff are more than standard stuff
- The send 5 workers instead of 4 workers
